Modelling and Simulation in Preclinical and Clinical Trials

DZHK-NDS Modelling and Simulation Alliance

The Department of Medical Statistics participates in the “Modelling and Simulation Alliance” of the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK).

The overarching goal of the Alliance is to develop novel methods for clinical trial design and imaging of the heart. Patient-tailored heart failure therapies are essentially investigated in small clinical cohorts, including n-of-1 studies. Methods for evidence synthesis and in-silico clinical trial simulation have to be developed and successfully implemented to enable early clinical trials.

Within the DZHK, the “Modelling and Simulation” Alliance will work closely with the “Quantitative Imaging” and “Clinical Trials” Alliances to determine reliable data acquisition strategies, endpoints, and clinical trial designs to facilitate bench-to-bed translation of pre-clinical innovations.
