Statistical Methods for Clinical Trials
Working Group Prof. Tim Friede
The methodological research of the working group “Statistical Methods for Clinical Trials” focuses on innovative designs and analyses for clinical trials with a particular interest in adaptive designs. These developments are inspired through analyses of the specifical requirements from intensive cooperation with clinical partners. This is complemented by research in methods of evidence synthesis including systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
We work closely with other groups with a research interest in clinical trials including the Medical Informatics and the Genetic Epidemiology. Furthermore the department is connected directly with the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) of the Univerity Medical Center Göttingen by the working group Biometry and Data Management in Clinical Trials and supports the CTU in methodological issues.
The developed methods are published in freely available R packages:
bayesmeta - Bayesian random-effects meta-analysis
MetaStan - Bayesian meta-analysis via 'Stan'
